The Springfield Ballet Company is proud to announce its 40th Anniversary Season.
Rockballet, on Sept. 13 at 8 pm and Sept. 14 at 2 pm, will feature live musical accompaniment from the band, Downstate, for the third consecutive year.
The Nutcracker, featuring live musical accompaniment by the Illinois Symphony Orchestra led by Music Director Alastair Willis, will be presented on December 13 at 2:00 pm and 8:00 pm and December 14 at 2:00 pm. The Nutcracker will debut a brand new Snow Scene designed by British artist, Peter Horne, and created by Michael Hagen Scenic Design in New York. These scene artists collaborate for American Ballet Theatre, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, Lyric Opera of Chicago and Pacific Northwest Ballet. "This year we are especially excited to have the Illinois Symphony Orchestra bring live music to our production," said SBC Artistic Director Julie Ratz. "We will also celebrate 40 years of The Nutcracker in Springfield by inviting all former Nutcracker dancers to ‘take a bow' on stage at the end of each performance."
The 40th Anniversary Season will conclude with Swan Lake during which 21 stunning new tutus will be debuted on April 18 and 19, 2015 at 2:00 pm.

Springfield Ballet Company is a civic not-for-profit ballet company and is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency. The Company performs three major productions at the University of Illinois at Springfield's Sangamon Auditorium each year and also performs at festivals, schools and nursing homes throughout central Illinois. SBC is committed to providing equitable opportunities for Company dancers to train and perform, as well as to educate and entertain central Illinois in the art of dance.
