The Hoogland Center for the Arts will be hosting a series of adult workshops for those who are interested in way to become involved with community theater as well as for those who are already involved but would like to learn more. Workshops will be taught by area volunteers who are actively involved in community theater in Springfield and excel at their talents ranging from set design, directing, makeup application, costumes, and many more. ? December 8 - Design Paul Presney set designer of Hoogland's Man of La Mancha and Muni's Titanic will explain the exciting ideas behind the creation of theatrical scenery that has left you in awe.
? January 12 - Auditions Upcoming audition? Nervous? Don't stress! This workshop, led by Hoogland's Artistic Director Gus Gordon, will provide helpful information and tips on presenting an audition that will leave directors wanting more.
? February 9 - Technical Every wonderful production has a skilled team working behind-the-scenes. In this workshop, meet with stage managers, technicians, and coordinators who will "show you the ropes" of how to pull off a seamless rehearsal process and production.
? March 2 - Creative Design Come join Springfield's mastermind behind wigs and makeup Annie Germann as she explains the ideas behind hair and makeup design, the application of design into production, and the process of total transformation through theatre effects.
? April 13 - Directing Springfield director Leigh Steiner presents a workshop in directing for the stage. Come see and learn first hand how large-scale productions are presented and the importance of strong leadership in the performing arts.
? May 4 - Costumes Come join the designer behind the Hoogland's Cats and Man of La Mancha Dave Shaw as he explains the ideas behind costume design, the application of total transformation through theatre effects.?
? June 8 - Dance Don't let dance scare you! We have your solution! Springfield Ballet Company's Julie Ratz will help you guide you through succeeding in dance auditions, tips on choreographing productions and putting your best foot forward on stage.
