It’s prom dress shopping time girls! Bring your BFFs and your mom to a free Girls Night Out with dress and accessories shopping, a fashion show you can be in, plus sweet treats.
The evening will feature cake samples by Ashley’s Custom Cakes and a fashion show and prom dress sale to benefit Mighty Strong Girls, a nonprofit ministry and e-magazine for teen girls. The event takes place from 5-8 p.m., with the fashion show at 6:30, Thursday, Jan. 24 at Poe's Catering, 295 E. Andrew Road in Springfield.
Women and girls of all ages are invited to attend the event, hosted by Poe's Catering on the Hill Reception Center and Ashley's Custom Cakes. Several vendors will be in attendance including Thirty-One, Blessings, Kim Nicole Boutique, BeautiControl Skincare, Scentsy, Jordan Essentials Bath & Body, and Round Again Consignment. Door prizes will be featured, and you can taste Ashley's delicious cakes -- perfect for weddings, birthdays and other celebrations.
High school girls are invited to bring and model their gently worn prom dresses for a fashion show at 6:30 p.m. Before the fashion show, BeautiControl will be doing makeup, volunteers will assist with hair, and Don Irwin Photography and Studio K.o.P will shoot the show for Mighty Strong Girls magazine. Anyone can be a model and have a chance to be featured in the March issue prom dress fashion spread! Lisa Rigoni, Mighty Strong Girls board chairwoman, will emcee the show.
Prom and formal dresses will be sold from 5-6 p.m. and then again after the show. There will even be 10 brand new dresses, donated by Candice's Bridal to the Hope Thrift Center, a missions project of Calvary Temple, which is a supporter of Mighty Strong Girls. Proceeds will be donated to the Mighty Strong Girls ministry.
If you are unable to attend but would like to donate a dress, you may drop them off until Monday, Jan. 21 at Calvary Academy, 1730 W. Jefferson St.; Chatham Presbyterian Church, 1835 E. Walnut St. in Chatham; Petersburg Curves, 205 S. Sixth St. in Petersburg or by calling 217-801-7464.
