The Abraham Lincoln National Heritage Area was established to promote and preserve Lincoln’s legacy in 42 Illinois counties. Now a steering council must be set up to guide the heritage area’s work and apply for federal funds, task that will be discussed in an upcoming meeting.
Who: The Looking for Lincoln Heritage Coalition and anyone from the 42-county heritage area who is interested in being part of a community working group.
What: A meeting to discuss implementation of the Abraham Lincoln National Heritage Area Steering Council and forming community working groups.

Why: To make the most of the heritage area’s ability to boost the economy in central Illinois while educating people about Abraham Lincoln’s history in the region.
