A Night of Stars is Theatre in the Park’s opportunity to present an evening of fun and music at the beautiful outdoor amphitheatre in Kelso Hollow at Lincoln’s New Salem State Historic Site, July 13, 2013 at 8 p.m.
This is the perfect event to host as a fundraiser for Theatre in the Park’s efforts to raise resources for lights and sound equipment. “The New Salem Lincoln League provided Theatre in the Park with a grant to purchase a new sound board this Spring. We need to grow that sound system by adding a few new microphones,” says Kari Catton, TIP’s executive director. “And, of course, we still have our ‘Old Faithful’ rusted lighting instruments that now really need to be replaced. The concert is a mechanism to entertain and raise funds all at once, plus it’s fun for the entire family.”
A Night of Stars will entertain audiences of all ages and is sure to dazzle and delight as some the area’s most talented performers grace the stage to perform musical selections from some of the most beloved Broadway musicals ranging from Rodgers and Hammerstein to Alan Menken to Jason Robert Brown and everyone in-between.
Featured performers include: Brad Davis, Sean Rose, Will Barnhart, Mark Wheeler, Andy VanDevoort, Stephanie Soltermann, Lucy Dalton-Lackie, Linda Schneider, Elizabeth Buttell, Mary Kate Smith and Becky Bertram.
“Brad, Becky, and Mary Kate are from Petersburg. The other performers are coming from Jacksonville, Springfield, Rochester and Riverton. The area is well-represented by the talent that is here in central Illinois.” explained Catton.
Tickets are $13 for adults; $11 for Seniors (55 and up); $8 for Children (12 and under); and $10 for groups of more than ten people. For tickets, call 217-632-5440.
An outside reception preshow will be held by the stage from 7 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. featuring songs and music by Dennis Darling. A purchased ticket to the concert is required to attend the reception.
