The travelling circus is coming to town and bringing with it the usual collection of sideshow performers: the bearded lady, the lizard girl, new recruit Webern Bell, and the ringmaster himself - Dr. Show. Unfortunately, there is someone else along for the ride; a hostile stranger is hunting Dr. Show. In the ensuing struggle to keep the circus together and to escape the lurking menace, disaster looms. In Goldenland Past Dark, Webern Bell’s story is revealed in lyrical and beautiful prose, with humor and imagination.
Ms. Smith is a Springfield native who graduated from Bennington College in 2005 and earned a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Columbia University in 2007. Currently, she lives and writes in New York City.
