Touring freejazz duo of New York City percussion master Lucas Collins and Chicago acoustic bassist Albert Wildeman will play Springfield on their Midwest tour. The performance of avant-garde jazz will be held at The Pharmacy artist conclave, with Springfield avant-garde jazz ensemble End Times Trio opening. Lucas Collins and Albert Wildeman met on the Chicago music scene, where they first began their improvising duo. Lucas Collins moved to New York to be closer to some of the creative music happening there. He studies Webern, traditional Haitian drumming, and freejazz percussion. Albert Wildeman is living in Chicago, a transplant from Holland, working on a Ph.D. and playing with both the creative improvising and classical music communities of Chicago. Wildeman has been playing in Chicago's improvising music community since he arrived in the U.S. a few years ago, and is now working on his own materials. Donations to artist's touring expenses accepted.
