"Walking the Text" in the Holy Land
Presented by Elizabeth Bazan, Assistant Curator of Education, Illinois State Museum
From ancient tells to modern cities, Elizabeth Bazan will share photos and stories from her recent two-week study tour of Israel. The trip explored locations featured in Jewish literature and the Bible—from the Negev desert, to lavish houses of Herod the Great, to ancient fishing villages along the Sea of Galilee, to underground water shafts cut through the heart of Jerusalem. Bazan will relate how these locations are interpreted to visitors today and how they provide context to the region's history.
