The area's Italian heritage will be the topic of the Sangamon County Historical Society program at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 16 at the City of Springfield's Lincoln Library, Carnegie Room North, 326 South Seventh St. The event is free and open to the public.
A descendant of an Italian immigrant family and Italian genealogy expert Bill Cellini Jr., of Chicago, will discuss the history of Italian immigration in Sangamon County.
Cellini frequently conducts public seminars on Italian genealogy and has provided post-graduate studies in American History at the University of Illinois Chicago. He holds a bachelor's degree in history from Illinois College and a bachelor's degree in fine arts from Columbia College. He is a member of the Roman Cultural Society and Italian American Studies Association.
