Local First Springfield is proud to be able to bring its annual Shred Event back to Springfield on Saturday, April 21 at its new location: Bunn-O-Matic Corporation at 1400 Stevenson Drive.
The Local First Shred Event started eight years ago with Local First and Affordable Local Shred getting together on the Saturday after Tax Day to shred boxes of paper records. For either a cash donation to support Local First activities and events or a case of non-perishable canned goods to the Salvation Army Food Pantry, Local First will shred up to five (5) boxes of records, recycle cardboard, eye glasses, hearing aids, non-controlled prescription drugs in their original bottles and computers. This year, we will also recycle your used tires, and Habitat for Humanity will accept your gently or never used furniture, beds (no mattresses), light fixtures, cabinets and doors.
Local First Springfield is an alliance of hundreds of local businesses, nonprofits and citizens which seeks to educate local citizens, businesses and public officials on the relationship between keeping your dollars local and the vibrancy of the Springfield economy and community.
