Abe & Mary: Quite Contrary Walking Tour is a
1.5 mile, 60-minute tour that takes you on a journey through time as we explore
beautiful, historic, downtown Springfield. Along the way, we will reveal
the people and places that helped Abraham and Mary's relationship blossom, and
on occasion, aspired to wedge them apart.
At the time/date of your tour, please meet just inside the museum entrance, next to the Information Desk. While museum admission is not required for the walking tour, it is suggested you experience Journey I in the museum prior to the tour. This will familiarize you with Lincoln's journey to the White House via Kentucky, Indiana, and New Salem, along with his time in Springfield.
Be advised: The ALPLM is not responsible for any loss, damage or injury during this tour. The tour will involve walking 1.5 miles on uneven streets and roads. Extreme temperatures could occur, seek doctors consultation if necessary. The tour will end at the First Presbyterian Church (6th and Capitol Ave.), guests may follow the tour guides back to the museum. Additionally, be sure to bring water with you on the tour, as access to water and restrooms will be extremely limited.
