Info

In this Road Scholar Program, Marlene Rivero brings the incredible story of Elizabeth Keckley to life. Mrs. Keckley had been enslaved, purchased her own freedom, and became the dressmaker and confidant to Mary Todd Lincoln. Mrs. Keckley, during a time in our history when it was unheard of for a Black woman to own a business, did just that - eventually employing over twenty women. Join us as this extraordinary and important story is brought to the stage, allowing attendees a glimpse into the past.
